Mendoza rests at the base of the Andes between Santiago and Buenos Aires.  The city is the heart of Argentinian wine country and has a vibrant cafe culture.   

My hostel was smack in the middle of the city.  I ate at the same restaurant everyday.  It was next to the hostel, the steaks were juicy and cheap, a half bottle of shiraz cost three dollars, and sitting outside was never boring.
